Better Than Angels: Pay Attention to God’s Son

Hebrews 1:4–14

Main Idea: Because the Son is infinitely superior to angels, believers must listen to Him, trust Him, and not drift away from His word.

Introduction: Angels watching over me?

1. The Son Has a Better Name (vv. 4–6)

1. “A more excellent name” (v. 4).
2. The Son is uniquely called “My Son” (vv. 5–6).
3. Application: Who defines your identity?

1. The Son Sits on a Better Throne (vv. 7–12)

1. Powerful and Glorious Angels: “winds and flames” (v. 7).
2. The Son’s throne is eternal and his scepter righteous (vv. 8–9).
3. The Son is the unchanging Creator (vv. 10–12).
4. Application: Stability in a shaking world.

III. The Son Has a Better Mission (vv. 13–14)

1. The Son’s victory is promised (v. 13).
2. Angels are ministering spirits (v. 14).
3. Application: Encouragement and warning.

Conclusion: Listen to the Better Word and trust the Son.
